📅 Season guide

When should you visit Kiruna?

Kiruna, Gällivare and Jokkmokk change character through the year: auroras and the Icehotel in winter, the Jokkmokk market in February, spring skiing under the midnight sun, the Kungsleden trail in summer and ruska colours in autumn. Pick your month — and see what awaits.

July

Kungsleden calls — peak season in the mountains

🌡️ 8 to 18°C
☀️ 20–24 hours

July is the month for mountain hiking: the Kungsleden trail starts in Abisko, day hikes in Abisko national park are at their lushest, and the Laponia World Heritage area lies open. The midnight sun lasts until about 18 July in Kiruna. Bring mosquito repellent — July is also peak mosquito season, especially in the forest lowlands.
