Lappeasuando Lodge is a small and peaceful wilderness lodge located between Kiruna and Gällivare, on the Kalixälven river in the heart of Swedish Lapland. The lodge features eight well-appointed rooms in calm Nordic design — all with private bathrooms and direct private access to the wilderness. Far from artificial light, conditions for viewing the Northern Lights are excellent; on clear winter evenings, the aurora often dances directly above the lodge. Guests can experience authentic husky expeditions and dog sledding through snow-covered forests, snowmobile tours, and relax in a traditional Swedish sauna afterwards. In-house restaurant serving cuisine made from Lapland's finest ingredients. Dogs are welcome for an additional fee. With only eight rooms, this is an exclusive and intimate base for Northern Lights, Arctic winter experiences, and pristine nature.

Dog sledding tours with Iditarod racer Mats Pettersson

Kiruna Sleddog Tours is home to Mats Pettersson — eight-time Iditarod finisher, the world's toughest dog race — and his 60–80 sled dogs. The kennel is located in Djurgården just outside Kiruna, 300 km north of the Arctic Circle, with views towards Luossavaara. We offer personal and private dog sledding tours year-round: kennel visits, 2–3-hour tours and demanding expeditions, plus snowmobile tours, ice fishing and northern lights experiences. Summer tours include training and hiking with the dogs, accommodation on-site, and meals prepared with ingredients from Norrland. Safety for both people and dogs always comes first, and all guides know each dog by name.
